Krishna defines renunciant (๐™ฉ๐™ฎ๐™–๐™œ๐™ž) and says, "Those who neither avoid ๐™–๐™ ๐™ช๐™จ๐™๐™–๐™ก๐™– (disagreeable or miserable) action nor attached to ๐™ ๐™ช๐™จ๐™๐™–๐™ก๐™– (agreeable or well-being) action are ๐™ฉ๐™ฎ๐™–๐™œ๐™ž. Pervaded by purity, being intelligent (๐™ข๐™š๐™ฉ๐™๐™–๐™ซ๐™ž) he is free from doubts (๐™จ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™จ๐™–๐™ฎ๐™–-๐™ง๐™–๐™๐™ž๐™ฉ)" (18.10).

We are all motivated to perform ๐™ ๐™ช๐™จ๐™๐™–๐™ก๐™– ๐™ ๐™–๐™ง๐™ข๐™–๐™จ (actions) and avoid ๐™–๐™ ๐™ช๐™จ๐™๐™–๐™ก๐™– ones. We tend to do ๐™ ๐™–๐™ง๐™ข๐™–๐™จ which are for the well-being of the self, family, organization or society. Though this looks logical, it is the result of the division of ๐™ ๐™–๐™ง๐™ข๐™–๐™จ as ๐™–๐™ ๐™ช๐™จ๐™๐™–๐™ก๐™– and ๐™ ๐™ช๐™จ๐™๐™–๐™ก๐™–. ๐™๐™ฎ๐™–๐™œ๐™ž is the one for whom this internal division disappears. Krishna calls them intelligent and in one way, dropping the internal division can be termed as intelligence. Their doubts also disappear when oneness descends with the end of division. As a result, the ๐™ฉ๐™ฎ๐™–๐™œ๐™ž neither hates nor gets attached to any actions.

Krishna further says, "It is impossible for the embodied beings to give up activities totally. But those who relinquish the fruits of their actions are called ๐™ฉ๐™ฎ๐™–๐™œ๐™ž (18.11). The threefold fruits of actions -pleasant, unpleasant, and mixed accrues to non-relinquishers but never to the ๐™ฉ๐™ฎ๐™–๐™œ๐™ž here or hereafter" (18.12).

The fundamental truth of existence is that it is impossible for the embodied beings to give up activities as our survival itself depends on numerous activities like eating and breathing. Krishna gave the path of relinquishing ๐™ ๐™–๐™ง๐™ข๐™–๐™ฅ๐™๐™–๐™ก (fruits of action) and He reiterates this on many occasions.

What happens if one doesn't detach from ๐™ ๐™–๐™ง๐™ข๐™–๐™ฅ๐™๐™–๐™ก? Krishna says threefold ๐™ ๐™–๐™ง๐™ข๐™–๐™ฅ๐™๐™–๐™ก accrues to those who long for it, maybe after the lapse of time, but not for ๐™ฉ๐™ฎ๐™–๐™œ๐™ž. It is our attachment that makes a ๐™ ๐™–๐™ง๐™ข๐™–๐™ฅ๐™๐™–๐™ก pleasant or unpleasant. ๐™๐™ฎ๐™–๐™œ๐™ž is the one who drops this attachment and transcends polarities to be ๐™™๐™ฌ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™๐™–-๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š๐™š๐™ฉ๐™ (one who transcended dulaties).
